Mull Browser - Privacy Oriented Browser

I tried it from the fdroid app but it does not replace the android webview or does not give me an option to switch to mulch. Pardon me for asking, after installing mulch how to make sure that the device uses mulch only instead of the default webview?

right, thatā€™s a system setting

you need to have a rootedunlocked device to flash a ZIP (or via Magisk/KernelSU) then you can select Mulch in Developer Options

see advice in How to install Bromite System WebView on an old phone?

and Issue with Mulch System Webview

and I can't install Mulch WebView

I just tried Mull today, now it has ā€œAlways request desktop siteā€ option under Site settings :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

From when this feature was implemented?

The Desktop browsing mode preference released in 133.0 has been temporarily removed and will be enabled in a later release. This will address issues reported by users on large devices. :upside_down_face:

Nice desktop mode doesnā€™t work on chromium/cromite Desktop mode not working on Tablet Ā· Issue #756 Ā· uazo/cromite Ā· GitHub for Tablets. This is an important feature for me and Iā€™m switching from Cromite to Mull just for this feature.:+1:

How do I import my Bookmarks (html or json file) to Mull (without sign in ofc)? I donā€™t see any option for this.

Host your own Sync server?

But thereā€™s no easy way, you can select all bookmarks, share to another app (notes, chat)

Then on the new browser, open each one, bookmark each one again.

I donā€™t want to sync, not their server or self-host. Opening links and adding manually is not an option as Iā€™ve 400+ bookmarks. Even if youā€™ve less number of bookmarks I wouldnā€™t recommend it to users. No point in doing this manually and having no easy option to migrate to another browser.
This is such a basic feature, Iā€™m little-bit surprised that FF still hasnā€™t added it to android.:man_shrugging:

I guess Iā€™ve to use link utility app (e.g. Linkora, LinkHub etc) or external bookmarks manager app (e.g. floccus, Shiori etc)

The general agreement is that it is intentional.

Same for opening local HTML files, Chome&co can, Mozilla refuses to allow it.

@SkewedZeppelin exactly where mull stores the internal bookmarks. The device is rooted, is it possible to edit such file and add bookmarks that way?

Probably one of the sqlite databases in Mullā€™s /data/data directory, maybe files/places.sqlite, I always forget the structure of those folders then have to relearn it when I change phones

If youā€™re not entirely unfamiliar with SQL and bash, creating some sort of SQL+bash script to export/reformat/import bookmarks will be harder than setting up regular sync but faster than setting up your own sync server (tried all three over the years)

There may be an extension that could accomplish this though I am not aware of one.

How come this got completely ignored? Iā€™m still unable to smoothly play 1080p 60fps videos in Mull yet I can in FireFox?

@bigsmoke
that issue should be fixed in 133.0.3

You mean the browser full of proprietary libs has a secret sauce? Tell me moreā€¦

How about Fennec?

I though Mull has all proprietary libs removed and idk what you are talking about with secret sauce, sounds like you might have had some yourself!

Try playing this in 1080p or even 720p and youā€™ll see how bad it is

Is this ever going to get fixed? Things used to work fine before so you must have changed something which completely fucked the whole thing. FireFox has no such problems.

you did see Skewed answer above?

Yes, I am using 133.0.3 and can confirm it definitely is NOT fixed.
