What types of apps are you missing from the FOSS ecosystem?

So there’s no linux thing to run under Termux for this?

Sadly not! Avahi itself apparently won’t compile for arcane reasons, and all of the things like the Python libraries are just toolkits for developers to write their own such tool rather than a maintained solution. I’ve even tried hacking up a script in python to do the python-zeroconf dance but it never works. I suspect termux can’t let processes do the funny mutilcast UDP games involved.

A first aid app would be great!
Most first aid apps on playstore have ads. (Imagine having to wait to skip an ad to rescue someone… (I haven’t tried all of them so just being imaginative
I only installed the one made by Red Cross which doesn’t contain ad, but it says it would collect my data. I couldn’t find one from F-Droid or Github.
Again. A first aid app would be great! Lifesaving

What does this entail? Examples?

And more

Survival manual Survival Manual | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

but study it before the accident, because your phone could be broken in the accident.

PS. boycotted because on m1krosoft’s github.

On the first aid app by Red Cross they use simple texts and graphs to illustrate some suggested procedures to be taken according to a certain condition. For example, it shows you some steps of what to do if you see someone having a seizure. Videos are included in some conditions.
It also have some quizzes to help you prepare for emergency.

Oh survival manual is very informative but only have description of basic medicine. I feel like scrolling through paragraphs during emergency could be too slow. Categorization of medical conditions would help a lot.
Yeah so like you said gotta study it before accidents.

Need a foss alternative to google lens.
Atleast ocs with the same speed

I would love email aling like spike. An app that aline your emails into chats

I don’t know spike so I don’t know if it’s exactly what you’re looking for, but you could try Delta Chat (Instant communication via email) - Delta Chat | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository still needs to be refined and fix some issues but in my opinion it’s a very promising project.

Its does not work with protonmail, tutanota.:frowning:

And incoming email can’t be seen

No with protonmail and tutanota it doesn’t work because protonmail and tutanota are not standard mail providers.
Here you can find a list, not exhaustive, of providers with information on compatibility with delta chat: Provider Overview - https://providers.delta.chat/
For receiving mails you can decide to see only mails received from other delta chat users, all mails or only mails from contacts you accept on delta chat.

I changed show classic emails to all, still i don’t get any email in delta chat ,how to receive all email

Yes, that’s the setting you need to change, I don’t know why you’re not getting the emails, it works for me.

Hi Van, have you tried cupcut it’s a very good app and most important it’s user friendly.

Can you provide a link to it? I cannot find it on FDroid.

Do we have something like PluckLock Ex that uses root?

I have PluckLock Ex but I have to reopen the app every few days to keep it working because it gets unloaded or something

Care to explain what that is or does?

It runs in background and locks the screen when the phone experiences acceleration more than a certain threshold. It’s intended to lock your phone if someone snatches it from your hand, but it’s also useful in saving the power button from wear.

Apologies, this might be the wrong thread. F-Droid does have PluckLock Ex. I just wondered if there’s a root-“native” app that does the same thing.
