Did you enable Push for all the folders? Background sync? Did you set K9 as “unoptimised” in Battery settings?
No way to know without knowing what you have done already.
Check in the General Settings first and then in the account’s Notifications section. Don’t forget the two at the bottom which are ROM options.
I usually turn off battery optimization.
How to enable push folder??
Settings > select account > fetching mail > push folders > only 1st class folders
