Might well be a device/Android issue but I just want a solution. Phone is Honor View 20 with Android 10 so not new. Whatever the cause I would like an app to stop this issue and can’t believe that this is only an issue for me.
Also would have thought, but I am not a programmer , that this was not a complicated app.
An app to remind you to take breaks, look into the distance, blink and do other eye exercises etc to help keep eyes, and probably brain, healthy would be good.
There are apps such as Eye Care 20 20 20 in the Play Store but, of course, usual issues/concerns around them.
Can’t you just set an alarm on your phone to go off at predetermined intervals to remind you to take a break and look out the window or whatever you want to do? Why do you need a dedicated app?
Well, I’m glad now that a free and powerful Ad-Blocker is now available, which made me uninstall AdGuard. It works quite well actually. But still, the Pixel Studio problem persists…
Set an alarm for what? To go off every 20 minutes and then when I am not on the phone it keeps ringing? Would not work. App needs to recognise 20 mins of continuous (or nearly) screen usage and then prompt for a break and what to do (eg look into distance, blink repeatedly, rotate eyes etc) much as the Windows app eyeblink does.
Sure and we are all so good at self control that we don’t overuse our phones and all take breaks every 20 mins. Nobody does or would which is why app like Eyeblink would help us, and our eyes.
If you’re using your phone frequently for more than 20 minutes at a time I think maybe you need help. Try a mindfulness course. I’m with @rafnov, there is no substitute for self control.
Yes of course. Use it when necessary; ignore it when it is unnecessary, which in my case can be 12 hours at a time. Why would you let an electronic gadget rule your life? It’s not an app you need; it’s self discipline.
Glad that some of you are so superior that you have total control of your lives and/or that your work does not require you to spend hours working on a screen (some people on desktops, some on laptops/pads and some on phones). Either way I don’t generally spend hours on my phone (more on the PC) but sometimes I do and would like to have a prompt to help my eyes. This topic is about apps that people want. You don’t need this app so fine but try not to be so dismissive of others who might and/or are more alert to the impact on eye health.
@Cliffcoggin congrats on going without your phone for a whole 12 hours. I sometimes have breaks of days or even weeks but that is my life and yours is yours.
@Hob111 suggests that help is needed. That is precisely why I would like the app!
Mate, we don’t wish you bad or wrong. If you look for an app to control usage of another app, then it’s something wrong. Really consider starting from YOURSELF. Apps will never save you. Am I enough clear in what others just confirmed?
Not looking for an app to control an app but to remind people to rest/exercise their eyes. You might just as well suggest that there aren’t fitness apps or to do apps as people should just get off their phones and do it.
More to the point this topic is for people to suggest apps that they would like. Absolutely fine for nobody to want to create such an app but it is ridiculous to be so judgemental about somebody else’s idea. If you don’t like the idea then suggest you just ignore it and get off your screen and on with your life.
