Warning: Godot is closing the source code of their asset package manager (Maybe add NonFreeNet?)

Godot is migrating from their open-source Asset Library to a new closed-source Asset Store in Godot 4.7. The Asset Library is open source (https://github.com/godotengine/godot-asset-library) while their new Asset Store is closed source and only has an issue tracker (https://github.com/godotengine/godot-asset-store-tracker). NonFreeNet should probably be added as an anti-feature to Godot 4 on F-droid. They are using this as an opportunity to add paid assets (this will obviously incentivize low quality trash filling up the asset store) where they will probably be taking a cut of the money. They don’t have paid assets yet (It’s on their road map) but this will likely rely on closed-source payment providers. Open sourcing the asset store, however, is NOT on their road map page. They are planning to deprecate the open-source asset library. Do NOT use Godot versions newer than 4.6.x. 4.6.x (currently 4.6.3) is the last "good”/fully open Godot version.

Actually, it should be completely removed if that’s the case, because Godot is leaving FOSS entirely.

The client-side part that’s integrated into the Godot engine is open-source, but the server-side part isn’t, which would just mean it gets the NonFreeNet anti-feature.

But still, it’s going proprietary, so it’s disconnecting from the FOSS community that helped create it in the first place.
