I have two android devices from two separate manufacturers. Google Play is running on neither of them, just FDroid. I get this update notification from android on both devices that installs all this Temu crap I never asked for (mahjong, brick buster, whatever, stuff I never ever use nor touch). Temu is marked as an ‘Android Update’, which seems like either Google or the device is compromised. This seems like a malware infection. How do I deal with this? Reset the devices or what? These tile games and shopping app and all this crap. This is from a user just using F-Droid and nothing else. Is Google dumping this malware crap on users?

This is carrier or manufacturer issue. If xioami, or redmi or any chinese manufacturer, it is bound to happen. Just uninstall the app or disable. Or else flash another OS.
(This play answer is crappy, except for the 3rd point).
