Hi All,
I am a freelance journalist promoting Compliance 4.0, especially with regards to IIoT and want to build up an education campaign.
Privacy/security advocates are of the opinion that Free Software/GNU/Linux is most suitable to achieve IT compliance and can bring Freedom to the desktop – but management is necessary & the awareness for this necessity!
Would you like to help me with that?
I would be pleased if this train of thought sounds convincing to you!
Best regards
Joachim
What are you looking from F-Droid? What is that you require from us?
As nobody speaks about the correlation between digitalisation, risks, legal, financial consequences, necessary conclusions for capital/insurance/education everyone might want to change this by discussing the question: How can we avoid catastrophe [1], [2] and instead bring digitalisation to success?
The hope is to get 1) public awareness 2) funding by this discussion

I have asked perplexity.ai:
“Free Software is most suitable to achieve IT-compliance?! Why is the spread on the desktop still limited?”
**The spread of free software on the desktop remains limited for several reasons:
-
List item Limited Professional Support: Many open source projects lack dedicated, reliable support compared to commercial vendors, which is a concern for organizations needing guaranteed assistance
-
Compatibility and Usability: Some free desktop solutions may not offer the same level of integration with widely used proprietary formats or enterprise systems, leading to compatibility issues and user resistance
-
Familiarity and Training: Users and IT staff are often more familiar with proprietary systems (like Microsoft Windows), and switching involves retraining and adapting workflows, which can be costly and disruptive
-
Perceived Risk and Responsibility:** Organizations may be wary of legal and compliance risks if they misinterpret open source licenses or fail to keep up with security updates, which are not always as rigorously managed as in commercial ecosystems
-
Feature Gaps: Some open-source desktop applications may lack advanced features or polish found in their proprietary counterparts, especially for specialized business needs
In summary, while free software offers strong compliance advantages —notably transparency and adaptability— practical barriers such as support, compatibility, user habits, and perceived risks limit its widespread adoption on the desktop."
Maybe the proposed initiative can help to bring solutions to the named issues forward?!
You are defying your own point. Using AI and stuff to post and comment here. use your own brain and not some AI stuff please.

sorry for this – as a journalist I am trained to ask questions instead of making claims
I will speak if I see you using your own words. Else, moot is the point.

Interesting: I am posting tons of stuff/links – and you’re searching for one micro-point you don’t like.
You could have said “no thanks!” instead. bye
