Hey !
As there is not always a lot of space on the internal root memory storage, it can be a cool feature to add an option to download apk files in the SD card before install them into the main storage ![]()
Thx !

you still need plenty of /storage space to install an app, eg. last time I calculated at least 2.5-3x the APK size (depends on app assets for how much the archive vs unpacked differ)
so yes, having it on SD card saves a bit of space but you can free that space anyway afterwards
Agree, you can now understand why it can be a nice feature to have those files downloading on the SD card ![]()
Even if you are short on internal storage: with downloading APKs to external storage it would be possible to not free that space but to keep the APKs (maybe for years).
I got the example of OsmAnd on my mind, this app is allowing to download map files on another storage (external SD card on my case), it can be really helpful when the root is not so large ![]()
I gave up on the big name phones and got one of the lesser known phones for $250 that has eight gig of memory and 512 gig of storage. This is the first phone that Iām not adding an SD card to. (Brand is BLU)
