I have two smartphones, one Redmi6A, the other, Nokia C12.
Redmi6A has a feature that switches ON the screen by 3-taps by default to submit my passcode, and 2-taps to turn OFF the screen. Version is as follows:
MIUI Global 11.0.8
MIUI version | Stable 11.0.8.0(PCBMIX M)
Android version 9
This saves the power button from being overused.
Nokia C12 has Android version 12. It doesn’t have this nifty feature. I always have to use the power button to activate the screen to enter passcode.
However, I am not very comfortable using Android, as the environment tracks my activities and forces adverts and sales offers. Also, malicious 3rd parties exploit backdoors to exploit my personal data. I have once observed my phone activating the Calling App to call an unknown number all by itself.
I am unable to find a similar tapping app on f-droid platform. Is there any app that I am missing out?
Try neo-launcher found in the IzzyOnDroid repository. It does have the tap to wake and tap to sleep feature toggles in the display settings and they work well. If you try the launcher and it does not show the tap to wake setting, then your phone’s kernel may not support it. Tap to sleep should work regardless of phone.
Thank you, Mr. Cue, for your advice, I am not ignoring your advice, but the contributor, Mr. Licaon_Kter, is here. He would be the right person to suggest on whether I should try the said repo, considering the security-safety aspect.
No slight intended. Still, I apologise for the unintended hurt caused.
You all are probably competent professional programmers and are well-read in the contiguous domains. I use computing to fulfill my other objectives. I am not a programmer by profession.
So, just being careful, that’s all. But thank you, once more.
Yes, I corrected, but by the time you also posted.
I checked. neo-launcher doesn’t work.
Any suggestion, Mr. Licaon_Kter? I was already cautioned that a limitation in my smartphone’s kernel might not yield the intended result.
I meant that I asked for a solution with my rhetoric, Mr. Kter.
Would be very kind of you to suggest a solution. Any relevant output you desire from my smartphone’s kernel could be posted.
