WHY WILL SEARCH NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT IS RELEVANT

There is a spelling mistake in your search. On F-Droid you have to type exact spelling otherwise it won’t show up. It is a good choice in my opinion, mitigating the issue of stumbling across unrelated results.
lowecase(post). It’s exact search, not relevancy search.
