Is there an app that will allow me to save an SMS conversation to a text file? I’m not talking about a single text but a conversation containing many texts.

Thanks for your prompt and detailed response. Afaik my SMS app doesn’t export, I could find nothing in the settings or options.
I’ll take a look at all your suggestions but as I was thinking of changing my SMS app maybe I’ll give Fossify a try first. I already use a number of their apps having switched from Simply Mobile Tools.

Use QUIK instead. It has all built in features including export/import and schedule messaging. It is FLOSS. Available on F-Droid: QUIK SMS | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

Ah, I see it’s a development of QKSMS, I’ve used that but don’t remember a text export capability.
For the benefit of anyone coming to this thread at a later date, most of these apps only perform backups. The app which writes to text files, which is what I was looking for, is SMS Gate | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
