Requesting Update from F-Droid

Hi I have installed privileged-extension and it works fine while online. My phone is rooted by the way.

My app will be run for long periods of times in remote areas and will mostly be offline, apart from select intervals.

I wanted to know if there is a way to request that F-Droid updates it’s local repositories from inside my app.

Also if I can update F-Droid repository or force it to update, how long does it take before privileged-extension will install the update? Is there an Intent i can send to say download pending updates?

I notice that I can add my app to the Privileged-Extension white list, and thus call installPackage? Would prefer not to do that if possible.
