What about Foss browser?
What you talking about?
what about it?
works fine… just make sure your Webview is up to date
Nothing, I presented as an alternative.
I don’t recommend WebView browsers, they are extremely limited by the API and can’t truly offer any actual privacy or security benefits over a Chromium or Gecko fork.
Ok, on reddit was very ratted versus other browsers for privacy. Seems they weren’t informed.
I think it’s because you can only control them as the OEM lets you.
While building your own Gecko or Chrom* allows you do tweak them better.
There is bunch of such tiny browsers that use built in webview: Free Browser, Foss Browser, Thor, monocles browser, jQuarks (Jelly), Fulguris, Styx… Even DDG uses webview built in (cmiiw).
Do they do all job? Doubtful. They are rather for basic purposes. I’d prefer DDG myself over all that Brave/Vivaldi/Edge etc… bloatware from Loogle store.
I’m using Firefox clones on a daily basis.
And you think that DDG that includes inside it’s browser AI code has something different than brave, Firefox, Google? I don’t even need to be smart to know the answer.
At least brave collects data for them internally, not for Microsoft like DDG.
Why do you assume what I think?
Proof that DDG still collects for M$?
At least it’s not a bunch of overload bloatware weighting 200-300 MB like them others.
As I said: I’d prefer DDG over Brave/Vivaldi/Edge… If I had no choice like Firefox and derivatives.
This is only because DDG is a WebView browser. If you’re on a stock OS you’re still using Chrome under the hood with all its tentacles of telemetry.
And unless you’re on an aftermarket OS like GrapheneOS, your WebView is likely outdated and insecure.
