OpenTracks & OSM-Dashboard stopped working

Folks,

For 2-3 years or so I’ve been using OpenTracks & OSM-Dashboard to record and map some of my hikes. It’s been quite nice. It even labeled the bottom of the map with my hike statistics. However, things stopped working recently because of a phone change.

Example of my hike around Istanbul Turkey last year:
walking 1:25:02 5.01 mi 3.54 mph

I had your average Motorola Android phone before with service Google Fi. Fi told me that 6-7 year old phone would no longer work with all their features so I upgraded to the newer 2025 model. That’s when things stopped working in OSM-Dashboard.

Current versions:
OpenTracks version v4.25/v4.25.1
OSM Dashboard for OpenTracks version 6.4.1 (53)

For the first couple weeks, when bringing up the map from OpenTracks the Dashboard would say there was an error reading the but it still brought up a map. However, this map had no track statistics at the bottom.

Now, as of a couple days ago it totally crashes without any map display. Now it gives me a full crash report. Starting like this:

OSM Dashboard crashed

Any thoughts on how to get these wonderful tools working again?

Bill

Updates are stuck unfortunately: https://codeberg.org/OpenTracksApp/OSMDashboard/issues/547

Yesterday the OpenTracks App updated itself to 4.25.2. Now the OSM Dashboard (no update) displays the map again. When the map first comes up it says “Error reading online configured map” but shows a pretty good map again. It does have time and mileage so it’s, for me, again usable.

Thanks all!

Yes, unfortunately the reproducible build for F-Droid is broken and I still don’t know how to fix it.

You can also get a newer version of OSMDashboard via the nightly builds repository
