How would I be able to quickly check if an app is privacy invasive about my data, or identifying me, efficiently? I know reading the code, but for someone a bit illiterate

Hi Sempa. In my experience with using F-Droid, there are anti-feature warnings for applications.
The terms also clarify that installing apps with tracking is prevented, unless you select the option to do so.
If you do want to assess tracking globally on your device check out TrackerControl
