Open Source Alternatives for Retrieving Your Own Instagram Media on Android

A question I have been thinking about from a free software perspective is whether there are any open source or privacy respecting options for retrieving your own previously published Instagram content in original quality on Android. Instagram provides no native export functionality and most available solutions are either proprietary apps with excessive permissions or closed source browser based tools. Since F-Droid users generally prioritize transparency and user freedom I wanted to ask whether anyone here has explored lightweight open source approaches or browser based workflows that respect user privacy while accomplishing this straightforward media retrieval task without relying on Google Play apps or proprietary software.

Use imginn.com and save?

Use yt-dl in Termux (or one of the apps wrapping it)?

I have been using a browser based solution for retrieving my own previously published Instagram content in original resolution on my Android device and it works well through Firefox. However as an F-Droid user I prefer open source applications over browser based workarounds and wanted to ask whether anyone in the community knows of an existing F-Droid package that handles Instagram media retrieval natively on Android without requiring Google Play or any proprietary dependencies. Instagram provides no built in export option which makes this a genuine need for privacy focused Android users who want to save their own published photos and videos in original quality without relying on closed source tools. Has anyone packaged a similar open source solution on F-Droid or would there be community interest in developing one.

Never tried either of them, I don’t use Instagram.

Try Seal (F-Droid) or cobalt.tools (browser-based but FOSS and works great)
