there’s none that you’d care about, test them both
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Cipious is not working here. Can anyone else confirm?
About newpipe when I press the home button the video goes to PiP mode but in Libretube when I press the home button PiP mode doesn’t get activated rather only sound can be heard. If I want the PiP mode then I have to manually click on PiP mode button which is there below the video. Can this be set to automatic?
they have Settings (at least newpipe) for what to do when you put the app in background, go and set them up
Didn’t work for me either. But it’s a invidious client so there can be many reasons why whether it be client side or server side
I haven’t thoroughly tested it but it lost me at it not having a lot of configuration options (as far as I could tell) compared to other alternatives.
Man please help me out with this, I am not able to find the recommend setting for this. In newpipe when I press the home button the video goes to PiP mode but in Libretube when I press the home button PiP mode doesn’t get activated rather only sound can be heard. If I want the PiP mode then I have to manually click on PiP mode button which is there below the video. Can this be set to automatic?
Did you try in app info / allow over other apps (overlay) access?
Also system settings / apps / special access (similar) / draw over other apps and see if it allows from there.
After that force stop and try again.

Sorry for asking this, this should be in the settings section in the phone? If yes then these are already allowed.

I am not able to find it anywhere.
If the above two settings were a reason then no video would have worked in PiP mode after clicking on the PiP button below a video I think.
Also in Libretube’s settings why isn’t there any option for PiP mode settings?
No idea on that. Probably ask LibreTube team.
Try going to settings > Player > then find the option that says “Behavior when minimized” and choose the “Picture-in-Picture” option
Why did I not realize the player minimized option. I installed the app to help, but gave up when I could not find.
It’s already selected. I am getting the PiP mode when I click on the PiP mode below a video but not when I click the home button. When the home button is pressed then only the audio works. Any other help?
Tried downloading videos from Libretube, selected only video then tried different formats but there is no sound in any of the videos. Any idea why is that? If I select download only audio files then the audio files work great without any issue.
Tried downloading videos thru newpipe and the videos had sound. But even if you browse newpipe without even playing the video, the cache folder in Android>newpipe directory, especially the picasso subfolder in cache gets filled with thousands of junk files which eats up a lot of space. Can you please check the same in your phone and is there a way to tell newpipe to not save these junk files or delete them automatically?
Let me try today and revert.
I got nothing then. It should be working just fine.
Could be a device specific issue then maybe?
Either way if you got a github account you should probably report it here
Be sure to include app version and device info etc
This I also have issue with
So, PiP mode auto starts when you press the home button? What have you selected in the settings page?
Found one more issue, in libretube if I am selecting caption/subtitles then it aint showing any caption on any of the videos. I am using the latest libretube as per fdroid. Let @vdbhb59 check once and then we will go forward with reporting.
Libretube is great as it doesn’t need access to google. Newpipe keeps on creating those junk thousands of junk files. Clipious doesn’t work. And Pipepipe is just a cousin of newpipe.
There is continuous power outage. Will revert in a couple of days.
Bro in the meantime can you check if you are getting thousands of these junk files with newpipe and any way to disable the app from saving those?

And is clipicious working for you?
Yeah i had to use shizuku to see them as google started to restrict access to app directories even more on higher android versions.
but yes i have seen them and they appear to just be cache files.
they should be able to be easily wiped just be clearing newpipe’s cache in your device settings
sadly i don’t know how you would stop newpipe from creating them in the first place if you even can. My only suggestion would is to just constantly wipe the app’s cache when it starts to build back up to a high amount of storage again
I mean it worked just about as good as libretube does for me. Sometimes it works and other times not really
Thank you brother. Let me check if wiping cache removes those junk files or not because the last time when I tried, it didn’t.
Found another app like this GrayJay but it is huge in size. Apart from newpipe, clipious(this one is down, checked in different devices) and libretube, is there any small size youtube app?
You had me at “hello”.
