Edit: As usual, I keep searching after posting, and I’ve figured some stuff out on my own. Apparently, Zim launcher development has been stopped, and presumably, it was closed out on F-Droid because of that. Also looks like it has been replaced/superceded by Neo launcher (which I’ve already installed and I’m starting to configure it now … so, primary problem solved).
However …
I cannot uninstall the Zim launcher. It does not show up in my F-Droid list of installed apps, and in the Android ‘Apps’ section, the Uninstall option is disabled. IDK how to remove this app from my phone.
Not actually an “F-Droid”-specific issue (I think?), but any help would be appreciated.
My first time posting here in a very long time; apologies if I’m breaking any protocols.
I’ve used the Zim launcher on my phone for 6-7 years, always the first thing I install on each new phone (after F-Droid itself…).
This morning I was fiddling with settings (trying to cancel background wallpaper entirely, and just display a monochrome background color) … I toggled something – I forget what – and my launcher went haywire, constantly re-crashing the second it re-launched.
I have switched over to the default launcher on my phone, and now I’m trying to delete and re-install the Zim launcher app, hopefully that clears the bug.
Except it’s gone.
More than gone, I can’t find any evidence it was ever on F-Droid. I do still have every alternate repo I’ve ever used, still activated, and it’s not showing up in any of those either.
What am I missing / misunderstanding here?
Please, I am open to a variety of suggestions … “Zim launcher is over here now” … “Have you tried ‘xyz’ to fix your phone?” … “Zim launcher sucks – you should use xyz-launcher” … etc.
Thanks.
