fdroid version of minetest game does not work on any devices. can anyone confirm.

Right, known issue. ( Updated manifest to fix crash loop on Android 10 when building from source by v1nsai · Pull Request #9410 · minetest/minetest · GitHub )

Install previous version first (5.0.1.24) start it once, then update to latest.
