Looking for a launcher

I’m looking for a launcher replacement to my stock (Realme) which occurred to connect to online services like Branch (took away his net permission).

There are 2 cases: tablet and phone.

For a tablet I wish to launcher to support both modes and switch between them fluently: vertical and horizontal. I would like to set my icons to my favourite shape which is squircle.

For a phone I would like basically the same but horizontal mode is not that important.

I’ve tested few: Pear, Lynx, Zenit, Neo, Lawnchair, Smart Dock (only good for tablet), Mini Desktop (can’t set icon size), Octopi (can’t set own font for drawer)… I’ve omitted sh.tty launchers demanding foogle services (even refusing to run without them) or/and making dumb things like setting own wallpaper without my permission (Highland launcher)

None of them fulfilled my needs fully but maybe there are some projects that I am not aware of?

Text launchers DO NOT include. I know there are many but they’re are awful.

What do you miss with Lawnchair?

Lawnchair is my second best launcher. My no. one is Trebuchet. GitHub - LineageOS/android_packages_apps_Trebuchet

You can extract it from LineageOS or download it from uptodown, apkmirror, or others.

No configuration for landscape mode… if on tablet put it horizontal everything goes to small.

Maybe this is what you want? I used it for the longest time.

I prefer my current launcher but it can’t change the shape of icons.

I am also looking for an alternative. Should be relatively similar to vanilla launcher in functionality, have the option to save/restore the home screen arrangement - and - work nicely with virtual screens (scrcpy –new-display)

@Living6324 Is Lawnchair available on F-Droid? I couldn’t find it. It’s in the Playstore but I’d rather not get it from there.

it’s available from Repo IzzyOnDroid. Either you have to install that in f-droid or you use droid-ify as I do. Or directly from the source: GitHub - LawnchairLauncher/lawnchair: No clever tagline needed.

Not sure for how much longer Lawnchair will remain in beta/alpha/nightly only modes. This has been for ages.

Thanks for the explanation of its absence and for the details of how to find/install it. A pity it’s not entirely FLOSS.

The nightly they are updating almost every day. That’s endless… but it has built in updater so it’s nice. Better than most launchers from goo store.

And I know it can be done as I’ve seen it on some launchers from Goo store.

Unfortunately they got tracking malware explicitly or somehow hidden.
