Is Fennec calling home?

Hi!
First of all, thanks to @relan for their job with such fantastic browser.

On the other hand, for some time now, I have seen in about:networking an automatic connection to gitlab.com that doesn’t disappear even after installing it from scratch.
I didn’t find any string in about:config and, for instance, Mull lacks that connection.

By the way, I don’t have a gitlab account in order to open an issue here:

Any ideas what this connection is for?
Besides, any way to disable it?

This is for the wallpapers.

The official Mozilla wallpapers URL requires a valid API token to access iirc.
