Installing F-Droid.apk on Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 returns "Parser Error"

The device is brand new and runs Android 11.

I downloaded the apk from the f-droid Web site. So far, I tried the following:

  1. Settings → Security → Allow installation from unknown sources
  • enabled for file manager
  • enabled for Chrome (to launch from Downloads)
  1. Activated developer options, turned on USB debugging

Also rebooted the device. All this doesnt help.

Any idea how to overcome this issue and install f-droid?

Try rebooting in safe mode. Also try downloading the apk again. Error might come if apk is corrupted.

Did you figure it out.

No, did not. Another, bigger problem appeared: MIUI’s lock screen turns off WLAN after some time. I turned off all battery savers, access restrictions, but had no luck. So I returned it to the dealer. No more MIUI…

We can close this issue.

I appreciate that you’ve returned your handset so this matter is over.

But to reassure other users, I have a Poco phone (still Xiaomi) that’s brand new and running miui 12.5 and Android 11. No problems with f-droid. It installs just fine.
