Hello everyone. I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 2021 with Magisk. After I did so, I degoogled my tablet using things like ADB and Magisk. I later made a Tutamail account. I use Droid-ify as my F-Droid client. I am from the U.S. and I degoogled for privacy reasons. I did notice something though - If I ever did use the Google Play Store and Play Services, my device is going to be uncertified unless I used Magisk spoofing modules for that like Play Integrity (Google has stated developer verification only works on certified Android devices - but mine is uncertified due to the root and I already degoogled as well.) Question about F-Droid - will it still continue to work on degoogled stock ROMs as well as uncertified rooted devices? Mine is the stock ROM but rooted. (I use Droid-ify)
Hi @solarStella!
I think Droidify should continue working on your device. In case it stops working, you can try out the new F-Droid Client. That i"m sure will work for a rooted and degoogled device. ![]()
Do try latest F-Droid 2.0-rc0 too ![]()
Thanks Licaon. Has F-Droid 2.0-rc0 added a feature on where it installs your apps via root? Because that is why I use Droid-ify, because you can install via root. I mainly use Droid-ify because of that and it does not have a pop-up about developer verif. As, I already degoogled and debloated this rooted tablet. I use InstallerX Revived in place of my default package installer.
Wow. The F-Droid 2.0-rc0 looks better than the old interface, I like it. Old F-Droid versions used to show me that dev verif pop-up often but I wish there was a function on removing the pop-up from view since I rooted/degoogled/debloated.
I also have a question about the F-Droid forum too - do we talk about F-Droid, FOSS, or things related to Android (because I rooted and degoogled it and I want to share things that I do if off-topic/Android is allowed).
no, that’s not needed, we have unattended updates since Android 12
yes, the rest mostly if they matter with these
