Hello I want to monetize on F-Droid and have Donations already integrated but no one Donates so I want to ask if there is another way.
Sell registration? License key? T-Shirts? Which app?
GeoWeather
I was thinking about the same with my app. I see that my user base is rising very fast and I had some greedy thoughts about monetizing it, however I do not want anyone to have to pay for any features. I don’t even want themes to be paid. It wouldn’t feel right for some reason idk. I decided to keep this a as a hobby and keep my job as my job. Would be nice to be able to support yourself from open source software development, but the reality is that this is not likely to happen without loss of software quality / integrity.
yeah but I dont have a job yet but after 9th of august I will have one
Good luck with your job in August ![]()
Donating or paying for something is:
- a form of showing appreciation
- a way of getting access to certain features
- a way of ensuring continued access to an app (e.g. by supporting app maintenance)
Or a combination of these. If you want to increase your chances of making people want to send some money your way, you have to:
- make an awesome app (make something that’s valuable to a lot of people)
- make donating/paying frictionless
- reach a big audience to increase the chance of someone making a donation/payment (most people won’t)
For example, after trying dozens of weather apps, someone recommended me Weawow and it was just perfect for me. Very well executed, super customizable, free of ads and trackers, with the humble note that this is intentional and development is supported by donations. Made me want to support the dev instantly, which was very easy because it happened through an in-app purchase. Just a few taps, for those using their device with a Google account and Play Services. On my degoogled device it shows a PayPal button.
The app has more than 10 million downloads on the Play Store by the way, and in the donation screen of the app you can see people are donating every hour of the day. I guess I’m not the only one who thinks this app gets it right. I even donated a second time a few years later when installing the app on a new phone, because I really want this app to stay available on new Android versions!
There are countless weather apps, phones usually come with one too. What should motivate people to financially support yours?
Mine is one that has the most Features in one combined and is build in my Freetime.
Can I make an SaaS Project on F-Droid?
more details pls
Like selling some Features and make the User before he purchases the Features create an acount but it would be optional.
SD Maid is one such application that heavily restricts features behind a paywall, it’s a stupid concept for F-Droid apps honestly.
See think of it in a viable and feasible turn. OSS, FOSS and FLOSS are similar concepts, though they do not always get grouped. Developers need a way to get funded and paid for their work. Some manage from other means, some may need it to be raised via monetisation, depending on the prescribed choice.
World cannot survive otherwise.
I know that, also, who the **** messed with my Email settings, I’m not getting informed about posts anymore.
Regardless, people who can’t pay will just mod apps, that’s unfortunately something that is only getting worse: If Buying isn’t Owning, then Piracy isn’t Stealing. It’s been trending for about a year now. Android is no different.
I won’t get notified no more too and when I would monetize my F-Droid Apps that wouldn’t have a Paywall behind everything
And how is the Foss Version monetizing itself?
And how is the Foss Version monetizing itself?
You can ask for optional donation in app soe times or at end of an menu like settings, and what app You made?
I already integrated the first one and with the second one I don’t really know what you mean by that
