I came across a similar post made last year, and I would have loved to comment on some of the replies. Unfortunately I found the post closed. And so I am creating a fresh post, and do hope that the moderators keep it open, because this might become a reference point for young learners who would be joining in the future.
I intend to take the idea of open source among college students. They are users of android phones, and are used to Google quite naturally. They should be given an alternative to Google. What can they use if there was no Google ? And they should be given an exposure to FOSS. You ought to understand that I am a non technical person myself. Of course I use search engines like noai.duckduckgo.com but there are things which experts in technology can explain better. In my country, education is just a matter of Government Policy, so fuck education. (The Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill, 2025 - Wikipedia this is for pure entertainment purposes). For me, it’s just learning, exploring and experimenting. So I do need a community dedicated to FOSS. I know that one exists on stackexchange, but I like the UI and the system of Discourse.
So may I request to rename this into FOSS to enable larger range of questions ? Or create a community on Discourse which would be dedicated to the larger FOSS ?
