I just did. It worked after I’ve disabled Google voice recognition, then Heliboard used Whisper. Interesting as Whisper works offline.
That guy, who created Whisper, woheller69, is a little genius, check out his other apps (gptAssist, whoBIRD, TimeLapseCam). They may not be pretty (non Material design) but they do the job and are FOSS)…

Am I doing something wrong or Heliboard is horrible in glide writing with external library as described on it’s page? It’s quite good in English but not in my native (polish) language. It’s unbearable how it does mistake words 2-3 times that I have to correct them with regular typing that is much slower than gliding.
I have multi lingual enabled but primary is my native language, if that matters.

Edit: HeliBoard description says:

  • Glide typing (only with closed source library :frowning:)

  • library not included in the app, as there is no compatible open source library available

  • can be extracted from GApps packages (“swypelibs”), or downloaded here (click on the file and then “raw” or the tiny download button)

Where do I get newest GApps / swypelibs, as the one linked is from 2022?

Might not be in the main f-droid repo sure (Futo have their own f-droid repo). But I’d rather this keyboard hands down over googles one. And ‘free’ depends on which definition of ‘free’. In this case doesn’t require you to pay anything for it nor have any paywalls. So if its not open-source what would you classify it as then? source available?

FUTO is in very early stage of development (that say: alpha).
It didn’t fit me, couldn’t configure it to my needs.

Speaking of Heliboard, I was just asking question on GitHub about a problem that occurred, when I’ve got notification of this thread.

I’ve cloned my Heliboard to work profile to serve for the apps installed there.
When I run some app it opens Heliboard but immediately lags for a few seconds.
Anyone knows a fix for this?
Heliboard is not auto frozen. The app is and has to be.

Is Shelter the reason of lag or Heliboard?

Gboard works, but it shares settings with main profile, which I wanted to avoid.
