Hello, during the update of the FFshare app, F-Droid requested permission to install from unknown sources. However, the F-Droid app has system privileges and does not require this permission to update apps. Other apps are updated without needing this permission. Is that normal?
Seems related to CalyxOS 5.0.2 known issues :
F-Droid will ask for unknown sources to install/update certain apps. Fixed with F-Droid 1.18.0, kindly update.
I use LineageOS MicroG with the latest updates and F-droid 1.20.0. This bug is relevant
MicroG has nothing to do here. Do you have Fdroid Privileged Extension installed ? Because it is not included in LineageOS. See F-Droid / Client · GitLab
On Android 12 and later the Privileged Extension is not needed, fyi
LineageOS is not LinegeOS MicroG. MicroG has their own LineageOS builds with F-droid, Fdroid Privileged Extension, MicroG Apps from their repo.
great, in F-Droid 1.20, Settings, toggle expert, turn off Priv Extension, if on Android 12+
Not working for me. Android 14. Lineage 21
So you’ve open app details for an app you don’t have, eg. Quicksy, expand Versions, install 2.16.4, see the Install prompt, install
Then force close F-Droid
Then open F-Droid, go to Updates, press update for Quicksy…
What happens?
(In settings, expert, toggle off Priv Ext before testing)
I have tested this method with Quicksy and with FFshare. Quicksy auto-updates fine, but it doesn’t work for FFshare. When I tried to update FFshare, F-Droid showed a window requesting permission from unknown sources for a split second (even though I had previously granted permission), and then a window requesting installation
