Fennec Crashes on New tab

Fennec F-Droid crashing on me when opening a new tab or new private tab. Using a FairPhone 5 with calyxos installed.

Steps to reproduce :

  • Do any action other than opening a new tab
  • Open a new tab
  • crash

Step 1 is really important since if I simply open a tab as my first action it will do it, but if I go to private tabs and then try to open one I will crash.

Have no way of recording screen but did send the logs to Mozilla. Don’t know where logs are stored but can send if indicated where.

Any extensions installed?

Can you backup your bookmarks (select all share to a tebt editor, save file) and reinstall clean?

Any chance to run adb logcat and capture such a crash stacktrace?

sure! Will try to investigate later today and send, when it comes to extensions I have ublock origin and clearURLs, I also route my traffic through nextdns

Having the same problem here on a Pixel 7 on Android 16, Fennec 141.0.0 Build #1410020, installed through Obtainium. All Extensions for testing deactivated (normaly using uBlock Origin, Tampermonkey, Keepa and Save Screenshot).
It also happens when clicking the address bar, not only the “new tab” + Button!

I found a thread on gitlab. According to that the issue should be fixed in 141.0.2.
Unfortunately 141.0.2 is not available though f-droid yet!

This is great news, although they have not built it still, and it’s kinda weighing on me crashing and reopening and hitting new tab quickly to keep using fennec, I’m really waiting for this update. Seems the build succeeded 6 days ago but it’s not on f-droid, receipts:

Ah, I’ve seen a thread where fdroid builds have been impacted by some recent tech shift and may not build certain apps. Fennec is not impacted, yeah? :pleading_face:
