I downloaded the Ripple app, and I want to be able to hide F-Droid when I activate Ripple. However, I can’t find the fake calculator app it mentions I need to use. Where can I find that app?
in full (not basic) client 1.23.2? see Settings
in Basic, it’s not a feature
in 2.0 the calculator thing is not a feature (for now at least)
F-Droid says it’s 0.3.2. Not sure how to get to settings on the app
which F-Droid client version do you run? Running on old Android versions | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
Not sure. I’m using Graphene OS
just look in Settings , About screen
then check what I’ve asked ![]()
Android 16, which is a newer version than what’s on the link
great, so in F-Droid client, use the settings for that
Can you detail your usecase? What are you trying to achieve? We rarely get any feedback on this, afaik, while we fixed bugs in this code, no one ever said anything, for better or worse.
@chartreusemoose
Using this phone as part of my advocacy work. I still can’t seem to find the calculator app. Does it even exist?
Advocacy work is not really specific ![]()
Like why does F-Droid Client need to be hidden, what is the danger if it doesn’t get hidden?
Who will find it?
Is F-Droid forbidden where you are?
Or are the apps that could be installed forbidden?
Do those apps have a ripple implementation?
Do they masquerade as Calculators too?
I can use it just fine:
The type of activism I’m doing could potentially lead to criminal prosecution, even though what I’m doing is completely legal (and I’m actively being investigated at the moment, at least for an administrative investigation).
None of the apps on the phone masquerade as calculators, and I’m able to use all the apps where I am legally
you can offer some feedback in migrate Calculator disguise from 1.x to 2.x (#3315) · Issues · F-Droid / Client · GitLab about use case and etc?
now, did you take a look at my picture above?
It is also possible to use this feature via the Search button. See the “Hide with search button” setting
