I’m loving my new OnePlus tablet. But without email it’s useless. I’ve installed FairMail from F-Droid, attracted by open source license and privacy promise. But all efforr to connect with my Fastmail provider have failed. First issue was transfering the eye-numbing app password required by Fastmail. Solved that by deft use of SSH across two systems. But now, even with that password, all efforts to connect fail. I do have the Fastmail server ids. But can’t figure out how to get them into FairEmail.
Host name: imap.fastmail.com
Port: 993
Username: redacted
Password: Just created a new app password labeled Android
Error message: Incorrect username, password or access token
I’m fairly sure that email address is not the proper one. I may be incorrect, but I think that even with a custom domain, your actual Fastmail account must be with one of their own domains.
In the regular Fastmail app or their webmail, go to settings, billing and plan. Your account email address should be shown.
I also suggest that you edit your post to remove your email address.
This is from Fastmail support prior to my latest failed attempt. It was in response to a connection request I made with the Wizard. My latest attempt is manual. But note that username is correct:
— Looking at the screenshot you provided, I do see that there is an authentication error. If you’re using your Fastmail username redacted …and an app password, then this shouldn’t be the issue. Now for your IMAP and SMTP servers, I do see that you’re using “redacted”. As you’re setting up your Fastmail account, please make sure you’re using the Fastmail server settings for this. You can find these settings on our Server names and ports help page.
