Hi everyone,
Since the latest F-Droid client update, I’ve run into a frustrating issue with the installation process.
- Installer Locking: F-Droid now only triggers the default Android system package installer. It completely ignores or fails to recognize any other third-party package installers I have installed on my device.
- Multiple Confirmations: From the moment a download finishes until the installation is complete, I am forced to manually confirm the prompt multiple times just to get a single app installed. As you can imagine, bulk updating or even updating a few apps now takes an absurd amount of time.
Has anyone else noticed this behavior in the recent build? Is there a known workaround or a setting I messed up to restore the seamless/alternative installer options?
Which device? Android version?
Using F-Droid 2.0-alpha11, yes?
Hello. I have recently bave exact same issue with F-Droid 2.0 RC0. I have InstallerX Revived as System package manager installed through module. I am using custom rom for my device Xiaomi 12T Pro. ROM: Project Infinity X 3.12
After clicking on install no prompts, nothing, only this forever.
Start install, fails, go to Settings, Debug log, save, email it to team at f-droid.org mentioning this thread

Ok, I submitted issue through email to fdroid team. I hope it will be fixed soon, because I need it to update system apps such as MicroG, other clients like Droidify cant do that. And new look of F-Droid is amaizing.

We got the email, will look it up
But note, we build and support Android distributions that don’t mangle system components and functions.
While we fixed as much as we could the app working on Chinese Android versions, we can’t stretch to “custom” third party installer solutions too.
I have InstallerX Revived as System package manager installed through module.
What if you revert to the normal Android installer? Does that fail too? Logs
Yeah, I know, but MicroG installed as a module or flashed through recovery, updates normaly. It means MicroG is installed as system app. And no, F-Driod not fails when I revert back to System Package Manager… F-Droid v1 latest, btw works with InstallerX.
