I have compared the latest version of the clients ‘F-Droid’ (version 2.0-rc0 (beta)) and ‘F-Droid Basic’ (also version 2.0-rc0). You might think they’re the same apps. 
By the way: I really like the new layout.
Just two questions: Are there any plans to offer just one app in future? Which client would you recommend to beginners?
if you need the extra features from Full.. use full

Did you mean if you don’t care for the extra features use Basic?
Beginners can use either clients since they both support download of apps and adding custom repositories to them.
i don’t think there are plans to have one app in the future. What do you think @Licaon_Kter ?

I asked because, when comparing the latest beta version of the full client with the latest version of the basic client, I noticed very few differences on the “Settings” tab; the layout is now identical for both clients. So I was wondering if the number of differences will continue to decrease with future versions until the clients are identical.
OK, it’s no big matter. I will follow your recommendation and use the full client.
been running Basic for a while now and honestly for most people its enough. i only went back to Full once cause i wanted the repo stuff, other than that i never miss anything. if you setting up a phone for someone who isnt techy id just give them Basic, less buttons less questions later
the repo stuff is identical between Basic and Full, what do you even mean?
