F-Droid Client - index update error - non nullable icon

Hi!

F-Droid throw something like this:

I tried reinstall, no luck

It should work on clean data or reinstall :person_shrugging:

Known issue: 1.23.0 - `not nullable: icon` on index update (#3054) · Issues · F-Droid / Client · GitLab

Does this mean the client stays “broken” unless data is cleared or you reinstall the app. That would be kind of huge. :flushed:

With the backgrounds reversal it’s just a bug that delays updates for 2 cycles… for now.

Will try to speed it up.

It is still not clear to me if the user (me) has to take any action, or whether I simply need to wait for an update to arrive as usual.

You can wait or you can fix it now: F-Droid: "The last index update triggered a bug in the offi…" - FLOSS.social

Thanks. I am happy to wait.

Just wondering since I know kotatsu updates 6ish days ago to update 9.0 and the fdroid client hasn’t updated to the newest one. Just wondering if there’s an issue or if it’s just been a slow week!

Bugs. See above and F-Droid: "The last index update triggered a bug in the offi…" - FLOSS.social

I have workarounded it by these steps:

  • go to settings in the app
  • enable expert options
  • enable “use old index format”
  • force close app
  • reopen app
  • refresh index

Need to make a note to revert that setting when the bug is fixed :-).

I pulled down to check the update, but the system line is displayed below F-Droid: not nullable: icon.

I haven’t updated the OS and haven’t changed the settings in F-Droid. I’ve cleared the cache, but the problem still remains. How can I fix this glitch? Or is it a problem on F-Droid’s side?

Bugs, bugs everywhere, see above for solutions.

Latest code already fixes it.

Should we still use the old index format ? How do we notice the normal format works again?

no, just toggle it OFF after update

in the future this setting might go away so no reason to keep it on

I still have this bug, this glitch. I’ll have to wait a week.

You don’t want to enable Old index in Expert settings then disable it once updated?

You don’t want to copy the F-Droid repo link, remove the repo, then add it back?

What’s the issue?
