F-Droid app is built for an older version of Android

Hello,
I tried to install F-droid on my phone but it keep saying that I can’t install it because it’s made for an older android version and its too unsecure.

Install app from external sources is allowed on my phone.
So is there a newer version of the app or did I have to force the installation ?

Thank you for your help

So you press “More Info”, then “Install anyway”, right?

If there is no newer version, its a possibility, yes

It’s the same version as the one I already downloaded

yes, on the Play Protect warning screen, you press “More Info” and “Install anyway”

If you don’t see the same screen I describe please post some pics

Can someone explain why Google Play is showing this warning? And why it is mistaken? It casts doubt on the official Fdroid download.

It’s not Google Play… It’s Google Play Protect

Also, ever wondered why Google would cast doubt on their competitors?

I have “install anyway” I just wanted to be sure taht there in no newer version of the app and that will work/is safe even for newest android version

Thank you

Also, read the text more careful, it does not say “the app version is old” but something else, also it does not say that “the app is for old devices” either

Do read the link above.

Yes, and the app will update to the latest version after the first index update.

What does it say? The phone on which I have the F-Droid client installed does not have Google Play Protect.

what issue do you encounter exactly then?

I don’t encounter an issue. I replied to the original poster with the link to the latest F-Droid apk. I’m just trying to understand what the Play Protect warning is.
