F-Droid and application update

Hello !

I’m using F-Droid since few days and I also installed the Yalp Store.
When I open Yalp Store, it offer to update many applications installed with F-Droid.

Exemples :

  • I installed “Muzei” today in 2.4.0 version with F-Droid. Yalp Store offer to me to update to 2.5.2 version.
  • I installed “QKSMS” 2 days ago in 3.3.2 (173) version. Yalp Store offer to me to update to 3.2.2 (2173) version.

The same for many apps …

Why the difference between F-Droid and Yalp Store ?

Sorry for my poor english !

Have a good day

apps at google store are usually compiled and signed by the program author. The author takes care to upload a new app version to google.

apps at native fdroid store are compiled and signed by the FDroid-robot. sombody has to tell fdroid that there is new app version ready to be build. Usually this is done by the app author by adding a new releasenumber to the source code.

however some apps are difficuilt to build and requre human interverntion for a new build

Ok, thanks for your answer.

Where can I tell to F-Droid team when a new version appear ?
Is it possible for me to compile a new version and offer it to F-Droid ? If yes, where can I do that ?

Muzei includes proprietary stuff that we have to remove from each release. It’s quite a bit of work someone has to do to make Muzei 2.5.2 available on F-Droid. See the patch for 2.4.0.

I installed “QKSMS” 2 days ago in 3.3.2 (173) version. Yalp Store offer to me to update to 3.2.2 (2173) version.

QKSMS will update automatically sooner or later. Several days of delay are normal due to many reasons.

Contributions are welcome. You can file issues and propose metadata updates here: F-Droid / Data · GitLab

Thanks a lot for these precisions.

JFYI, QKSMS 3.3.3 is available now: QKSMS | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository

To make updates easier on Yalp and avoid messing with F-Droid, open Yalp Store, go to Settings and then on Updates chose Withe-list apps for update,
Only the chosen apps will be checked for updates.

there you should only check the proprietary apps you downloaded through Yalp Store.

Let F-Droid take care of your FOSS apps and Yalp Store the privative ones.
