In the past™ I used to add repositories to f-droid. But migrate to a new phone, all is lost! And adding repos is awkward. Since then I employ droid-ify. That has a lot of repos activated already and it can export/import repos. Alas it sometimes lacks stability; every now and then I have to force-kill it and restart. I would love if f-droid be able to export/import my repos.
Do I understand that correctly: The Topic is OPEN since 2018 and still NOT SOLVED? And it looks like it will never be?
So that is no solution.
answer is - most technical people who want this soon come to realization that what they actually want is proper backup restore, so then they go to custom firmware, root or adb, so this specific feature is neglected
Actually I use Custom-ROM since CyanogenMod. On daily drivers I don’t have root. adb backup doesn’t help when I migrate between LineageOS, /e/OS, and iodéOS, and/or when I change devices. adb backup cannot replace an in-app backup/restore feature.
i meant custom firmware that would give you access to the data partition before the os boots and you’d do everything that way, i suppose it’s called a custom “recovery”
for mere mortals none of that works properly of course, but whoever can implement this feature can likely make app backups work for their use case, whichever way, so they would spend their time on that instead of this
Don’t these all have SeedVault as system backup?
They have.
Does SeedVault backup and restore the additional f-droid repos? That would be new to me.
It restores apps and their data.
And that includes f-droid and additional repos? I didn’t know that.
Anyway for me it would be desirable to have an in-app backup in f-droid and thus the possibility to transfer additional repos to a different device w/o the complete seedvault hassle.
