Hallo Community!
I have been used Etar for many years on my old smartphone (Android 10). Last week I installed it on the new telephone but here I cannot share events planned with it.
Nor is possible to save them to SD card.
If I try that, I get the message “Error. It was not possible to share the event” (my translation from German). From other apps, i.e. file manager can you both share or
About the new smartphone and Etar settings
Android 11
Almost all google apps and services are de-installed or de-activated. Only the system apps and File Manager is now active.
Etar version 1.0.47
Etar has permissions to files and media,on Calendar and Contacts.
Other strange behaviour noticed:
Once started Etar, it is not possible to close it, even using the system service “force closing”. At the top right corner of Etar widget there is the locked symbol. BTW, the same for the app FairEmail and F-Droid Dateimanager.
What I have tried (but every time without success)
a) downgrade Etar to the previous version 1.0.46 (as on my old smartphone)
b) re activated the google app Calendar
c) re activated the google service app
d) moved the Etar app from SD card to the telephone memory.
Has someone an idea, which is the cause and how to solve it?
Thanks for the hint!1
I posted on GutHub! And as expected, I’ve got the answer, it is no issue but it hangs probably on de-activeted Google apps.
Which Google apps could be related with the missed functions in Etar “share to” and “save to” ? No idea!!
I think, I can only solve it, trying to re-activate them one by one.
It is very strange! I re-activated all the Google apps, which I previous de-activated. But share to does not run yet in Etar.
Then I searched with App manager (F-Froid repo) for apps with “share” / “intent” / “select”. I found only system relevant Android apps.
But I had de-activated no system relevant ones - no ones where root access is needed!
The app, you have mentioned is not on my phone. I think, it depends on Android and Phone (Brand, Model).
So I tested another Calendar app (Fossify from F-Froid): from this one it is possible to share events without any issues.
Probably the issue in Etar is due to an interaction between the app and the Android version on my almost NoName Phone.
Just now I deinstalled Etar. Furtherer the new app is more “powerful”.
“intentintercept” pretends to handle nearly every type of “sharing event” so it can monitor what etar and other app wants.
install intentintercept (to analyse communication between etar and potential “sharing event apps”)
open etar and try to “share an event”
What happens next?
** if more than one app is installed that can handle the “sharing event” an App chooser opens: Choose “intentintercept”
** intentintercept opens with details what etar whants to share
I don’t know, if you are assuming right, because exactly the same message came out on trying to save the event on the SD Card.
Anyway I installed the analyse app.
I opened it and that opened the etar ap und tried to share an event.
Nothing happened!
Changed to Intent Intercept and clicked on “Send Text Intent”, expecting a protocol about the action were sent. Instead of I only see Test Intent
Ok I thought, I’ll try in other manner
Intent Intercept opened (window name: Intent Abfänger = Catching Intent?
In this app clicked on “Send Test Intent”: I looked for the etar app but I can’t see it.
Maybe I’m using intentiontercept in wrong manner. But at last it happened was I supposed: I switched from an issue in another one.
And sincerely, particularly at this moment I have enough problems to be solved (not in smartphone) . I understand apps as support me in this intent, not as an additional problem source.
So, to solve the sharing events issue trough installing a similar app (to etar), which doesn’t produce the same issue is good for me.
… and said to me, the sharing (and copy) issue using etar is not located on my phone, but in the app.
