DivestOS: long term device support with enhanced privacy and security

Samsung Galaxy S II (i9100)

DOS build divested-14.1-20210909-dos-i9100.zip

I tried a total of five custom ROMs for the S II, the first four of them successfully: LOS 16.0 / 9.0 / Pie | LOS 17.1 / 10.0 / Q | LOS 18.1 / 11.0 / R, /e/OS-p (16.0 / 9.0 / Pie) and DivestOS 14.1 / 7.1.2 / Nougat.

The maintainers of the first four ROMs point out that pre-installing PIT : i9100-LOS-16.0-Emulated-Storage.pit is mandatory. The installation instructions of DOS aka LineageOS Wiki don’t talk about this.

Starting point for the (not successful) test of DivestOS 14.1 / 7.1.2 / Nougat was the successful installation of 9100-LOS-16.0-Emulated-Storage.pit as well as i9100-LOS-16.0-Emulated-Storage-TWRP-3.3.1-1 together with /e/OS e-0.14-p-20201217-UNOFFICIAL-i9100.zip

In TWRP 3.3.1-1 I’ve executed: → Format Data → Type [yes] → Davik / ART Cache → Cache → System → Non-emulated Storage → Swipe to Wipe. Then followed via adb sideload divested-14.1-20210909-dos-i9100.zip

After reboot to system the DivestOS ROM gets stuck in the animated multicolored DOS logo - a bootloop is the result. Back to TWRP and a factory reset - did not remove the bootloop either.

Will the bootloop be caused by PIT : i9100-LOS-16.0-Emulated-Storage.pit ? Will a successful installation DOS 14.1 succeed with a starting point Stock Android 4.1.2 “Jelly Bean”, i.e. without PIT : i9100-LOS-16.0-Emulated-Storage.pit?
