FUTO keyboard is very solid, it’s also the closest thing to gboard I could find. Though you need to add FUTO’s repository first.

Well, when I disabled Google Play Services on my tablet, this particular package “com.dispatch.droid.wbns10tv” stopped sending notifications, not even announcing that Google Play Services is disabled, the package version is 47.0.3 (2025112019), I wished there was a way to get rid of that dependency, and Appteka might be the solution, but how?

It’s not hatred to point out that FUTO keyboard is proprietary software. It’s just a fact.

The free software movement isn’t about hatred towards proprietary companies but rather standing up for the four freedoms.

Well, FUTO isn’t Proprietary, because they show no connection towards Google, in fact, FUTO is against Google’s policies. FUTO is considered Independent, but not FOSS.

Mind you, Google fucking has everything under their thumb: UI, Websites, the dreaded reCAPTCHA, Android, even Apple devices aren’t safe from Google’s influence anymore! We need to destroy everything that Google made, even the Material design UI that Google claims “boosts customization”, when in reality it has serious drawbacks with the more recent iterations. Google will find every way to track us and steal our information. We need to consider falling back to older UIs to rebuild that nostalgia and remind Google that modernization is inevitably going to destroy the past, and no past, means NO future! (Plus not to mention keeping Android completely open)

On a phone with LineageOS I use the keyboard Simple Keyboard | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository , and on a phone with Google services I use Gboard.

I didn’t know FUTO Keyboard was proprietary, thanks for clarifying.

Its source code is available, but its licence is restrictive, so it isn’t considered FOSS.

I would be needing your help in building up a campaign against Google inside local colleges. I know that it wouldn’t be easy, because Google and Microsoft send trained and experienced salespeople to these institutions that on day 1 itself they would throw away a self-appointed representative of f-droid. They’ve got lots of arguments in their favour, and l know nothing of technology :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
