Cannot start F-Droid on Samsung Galaxy A03

I cannot start my F-Droid. It is a bit similar to a related thread, but not the same.

I can download and install F-Droid from the official site. However, right after I launch it, it crashes. In the recent apps, F-Droid is still there with a full black preview picture.

Is there something I can try besides entering developer mode?

Thanks

Do test 1.15.2: https://f-droid.org/repo/org.fdroid.fdroid_1015052.apk

If that still fails try latest Nightly: https://gitlab.com/grote/fdroidclient-nightly/raw/master/fdroid/repo/org.fdroid.fdroid.debug_1166094506.apk

ref: java.lang.RuntimeException: An error occurred while executing doInBackground() (#2436) · Issues · F-Droid / Client · GitLab

Does the crash ask you to send the crash log to the developers? If so, please do so so the crash is known.

Otherwise, to figure out how to fix it, Scoop is a great way to more easily get crash logs.

I agree with @Licaon_Kter about trying a newer version. If none of those work, you could always use an alternative F-Droid Client like Droid-ify or Neo Store but in that case please still help report the bug so it can be fixed :slight_smile:

Thanks for the tips. The nightly works. Is there a visible note somewhere that talks about the dev versions to try?

No really, as these reports just started to come this week.

Note that Nightly is good and fine, but sometimes it might reset your settings/repos. :person_shrugging:

Scoop does not catch the bug with the stable version. However now the (new) stable works fine.
