Which is best, safest?
Opposite question answer is partially obvious for me: Bing and Google.
Why DDG is bad? Lite mode is unusable with deeper configuration, HTML looks good, Startpage doesn’t work ATM (blank page of search results, maybe because UltimaDark extension), and Mojeek… is weird and cringe. Sometimes doesn’t find anything and redirects to other engines.
That’s what I noticed after quick tests.
It was you that mentioned alternatives I even didn’t know on another topic?

I’ve quit using Google some time ago, I’ve never used Chrome for longer time.
There was saying about IE on windows,: it’s an app to download Firefox it’s the same with chrome now. You need to use chrome to download app for frp workaround on some devices. Nvm.

My short conclusions are: I would like to go no Bing way first (so would have to exclude DDG, I don’t know if it’s possible as this small and frequently updated browser is good for older devices, where *fox doesn’t fit, and dark mode works OOTB), then no Google way, (although Startpage declares no tracking it uses Google results)
Seems that Mojeek is the only fully independent engine with only own index based searches.
Starting with a last one I may go for compromises with a Startpage and DDG.
Ecosia uses only Bing results (which I don’t want) and Qwant own index + Bing.
Another problem that occurred midway is that some engine pages (Mojeek, Startpage) are not displayed properly with my dark mode extension… TBC…
