For example, instead connecting to invidious server, as those don’t send any data to google and still works with a google blocking dns
like Materialious | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
or Clipious | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
?
1st one doesn’t work with google blocking dns, 2nd looks unmaintained
For reference, just public invidious instances work well, yewtu.be for example
But all servers connect to foogle. Where else are they getting the data/videos from?
there once was a proxy way, but that’s really heavy for the host of Invidious, pretty sure most would not do that
How else do you want to see? If you so much hate google then don’t use YouTube (or much of internet).
That is exactly what I do is I avoid YouTube, both direct and indirect. I got to the fediverse and use peertube sites and the videos on there. It is obviously not the same content and peertube is not what you use if you want to monetize your videos, but it’s an excellent resource both for content creators and consumers.
LibreTube with self-hosted Piped instance.
Could be an option but there’s extreme power outages where I live (only 4-6 hours a day of electricity) so self-hosting anything is pointless unless it’s possible on android
wait a bit, you can connect to Peertube and Mediagoblin and Soundcloud and Bandcamp… no google involved ![]()
Totally off-topic, but there’s a song on the same theme as that meme ![]()
