?? “App info” for which app?
Could you please elaborate?
And: Which version do you talk about?
Long press on any app then tap app info. Or go to Settings > Apps > [the app you want to adjust]
Any version of LineageOS in the past ~7 years
Ah - I see, we are talking about different things. Of course I know what you describe, but that is a “all or nothing” solution. My starting point was an alternative for AFWall and the like, ie. a tracking and advertising blocker. There are lot of apps that need data, so I cannot block data completely. I have to allow data basically but I still don’t want to see their ads and I still don’t want to be tracked. That protection is what some apps offer, but normally they need either the VPN or root privilege. /e/OS and iodé have that integrated in the OS, so there you need neither VPN nor root for this purpose.
I’m a bit late but I wouldn’t buy Pixel phones anymore.
Currently, If I buy a new device I’d have a look at Fairphone 5. A new one is coming soon.
What I never get is the lack of understanding in people calling them Custom ROMs, forked rom, blah blah rom, and honestly, hobby??? Moreover, everyone only looks at Google, if it was the Umbrella Corporation ruling the world! What is wrong with this so called intelligent species??
that’s not false, right? ![]()
Milla Jovovich will surely not like it. ![]()
Completely agree.
I never bought a Google device.
Funding Google, giving them money is unethical in my view.
It’s just disheartening using Google AOSP alternatives…
Hey all!
So, my Pixel 6a arrived earlier than expected ![]()
I ran a few tests, seems to be working fine, so I moved on to installing an alternative rom. I will say, I ended up installing GrapheneOS not really because of a high level choice, but instead because it had the Web installer that made it SUPER easy. I was very very pleased with it. Had to install Brave though, but that’s not the worst thing in the world (compared to a lot of stuff that was not going well with Lineage…)
OTOH, it is updated and I suppose it will be easy to keep it that way, given Graphene good record ![]()
Anyway, I have my phone with a black and white ugly theme ahahah
What is the easiest simplest theme one can get on F-Droid to correct it? I like simple traditional icons and colors ![]()
Thanks!
Also, regarding the firewall thing we discussed earlier on, it seems like Graphene has a less complete solution than Lineage. I can enable and disable network access, but can’t seem to restrict only Wifi or only 4G data to be used, or only VPN connection. Am I missing something here? I really did like the AFWall approach (deny by default, and give the option of allowing only what one really wants)
If you really want root access, check out AXP.OS
It’s the only aftermarket OS I am aware of that makes it easy to have both Magisk and relock your bootloader.
Just in time for Google prepares to 'reduce' Pixel 6a battery in coming updates
Aye, that was indeed the double blow. Yet, I did counsel thee to adhere to the eighth and those of later make.
Oh well, that’s a bummer. I wonder if Graphene or Lineage could find a way to circumvent that. I don’t think they will in any case, as not to be found liable for any “accidents”.
My Pixel came with a 90 count of battery cycles -.-‘’ a little too much “testing” but ok…
It seems like in light usage a charge might hold for 2 days. It will still be left to see how much it will last when the “reduction” happens.
Now, while I know this is just companies being greedy and wanting to force people for older devices into buying newer ones, I have to say, I do feel like the device gets warmer than it should. So maybe there is some safety in the reduction.
@anon84241408 I understand you, but let’s be honest these tactics will inevitably come for the 7, 8 9… Still, thanks ofr the great suggestion I am loving Graphene so far. I did have to install another launcher and a different set of icons, sure,it looked awful… But other than that, it works like a charm. And I just fell in love with the Web installation thing ![]()
