How to watch and download videos from YouTube?

You gave a link to a developer of invidious making a comment two months ago about a problem which may be tangentially related to your problem. Invidious are constantly in a cat-and-mouse game with youtube, so it really means very little now.

And now when three people told you that they were watching and downloading videos variously using Newpipe, LibreTube, and Seal, you proceeded to not take that datapoint seriously.

If it’s working for those people, the problem is probably something else on your side. Them showing you a video would change nothing.

Actually, make it four people. I just installed Newpipe and downloaded some silly video of Gordon Ramsey that showed up. It worked immediately with no issue. I will not be sending you a video of the process.

Thank you for your answer and opinion. It sounds almost logical, an example for you. Recently I watched the BBC news, there by mistake one person was given 26 years in prison, that is, there was a trial and not 4 people but the entire state judicial system convicted, and then they admitted that it was a mistake and paid 13 million dollars. From the point of view of the scientific approach, 4 subjects is 0.0000001% of the truth.

The only logical scientific conclusion to this is: don’t watch the BBC.

Just kidding - what you’re saying would make sense if the point being made was: “because it worked for 4 of us, it must work for you and everyone else”. No one is saying that (I believe). However, if it worked for even 1 other person, it would actually be proof of the fact that it isn’t broken for everyone.

That’s an important and useful datapoint though. It means you should bump up the likelihood (a little bit, at least) that there is a problem on your side, with your network, or something.

All mentioned before were working for me fine to watch/listen, maybe except LibreTube which had minor issues and I’m not sure if they were fixed, but I know it was updated since then.
I’ve been using PipePipe to download & save without problems.
Now I’m at FreeTube as it’s the only multisystem one (Windows, Linux), has sponsorblock and adblock working. Not sure if it can save (to be checked).

As a result of reading this thread I’ve installed NewPipe, Works a treat for me and isn’t it lovely not to have adverts.
