I’m a writer & copyeditor/proofreader. Although I’ve been using F-Droid apps for a couple of years I’m new to this forum & GitHub.
While browsing through app descriptions on the Android client I noticed that some had rather blatant grammar errors. Others were written by people whose native language was allegedly not English.
I’ve been reaching out to some developers. So far a few have responded & I corrected their app descriptions.
Is it OK to create a post offering my free service to developers? I read the FAQ & glanced through the TOS, & didn’t notice anything about this.
I’m seeking to build my LinkedIn portfolio. I’d ask the developer permission to feature the improved listing in my portfolio; yet, that would not be required.
I am sure you can edit by forking and submitting a pull request. Just follow the same everywhere. If the developers are okay (usually are), it should be fine. I have done it for several myself.
Another GitHub developer (who has an app on F-Froid) told me that I’d be editing the full_description.txt file, that is the app description. I’ve noticed this also includes the short_description.txt file. For my purposes it looks like these would be the focus.
So, just download those, make the corrections here, then request a pull? No need to ask them for permission?
Easy!
Do you know if that would also require forking the project?
