As you have pointed out, we stopped building Flym when it required
play-services. As of 1.9.7 this is still the case. If you can
convince upstream to remove it or provide a build flavor that does
not require it, we can start building it again. Please keep in
mind that upstream most likely is busy working on the 2.0 version
on a new code base, so patches to 1.x will most likely be slow.
@rickl , acually, spaRSS was started as the developing fork. It also slowed down now but IMHO is more advanced (till Flym 2.0 is out, of course ). Give it a try.
Thanks a lot for the quick feedback, much appreciated.
The genealogy of all those readers is a little convoluted I just tried spaRSS. I find Flym a little bit nicer to use, but maybe that’s just my habit. However I’m especially keen on Improve tagesschau.de (blind fix) · FredJul/Flym@3d1ab20 · GitHub (a filter mechanism that filters out certain elements that otherwise make reading really, really annoying).
I’ll see if I can convince them to add a build flavour without Play Services.
