I am currently using google messages want to shift to a open source sms app. found some options and got confused which one to choose. Here are some apps:
Fossify Messages: Fossify Messages | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
QUIK SMS: QUIK SMS | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
Clear SMS: Clear SMS | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
Messages: Messages | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
Clear SMS and Messages are new
Btw which SMS app do you use?
So you’ve tested? What do you want oit of it?

No i did’t try any app but i am asking that any of these apps have good user experience. I have to shift my all sms history to them but any of these had any bugs, glitches, etc so i will avoid that.
I would advise you to look at app’s permissions first to decide to which SMS app you want to switch. I would switch too, but my family member also has Googles messages app, so, my hands are “tied”.

I tested all 4 and do some research and found messages a better option for me but it is new so i will wait and check the update frequency.
Quick sms did’t get any update from last 5 months and fossify messages from 2 months and i am not comfortable with clear sms.
I am asking, is it okay not getting updates from months?

Yes. If it is stable enough or some beta/alphas features are being tested, then yes. QUIK is very stable. Using it and earlier QKSMS for ages now.

Thanks, I will give it a Try
SMS as a standard has been unchanged for decades, what do you expect them to add every week? most SMS apps are feature complete already.

Go to message management and select auto deletion option with pre-set days.

Yes. There is none. But I guess most of us never had any use of it. I know, I never have any use.
Check the repo issues for any such request once.
