I'm doing it wrong

Old grootvader is having difficultly finding the contact information for the developer(s) of the app ‘Survival Manual’. (It has a new permission that I’m curious about.) I have exhausted an internet search. Of course, I’m doing it wrong. (The link to GitHub was of no value.) Yes, I have my glasses on…

The internet permission? See FAQ: https://github.com/ligi/SurvivalManual/wiki/FAQ

Else open a new issue here: https://github.com/ligi/SurvivalManual/issues

It looks like they would value a connection through the github issues.
If it is something you really must not tell anyone else, you can have a look at the first developers https://github.com/ligi/SurvivalManual/graphs/contributors Since ligi is envolved with a lot of other things, too. The issues would be a good start.

I’m looking at the new location permission. New: access approximate location (network-based). I ALWAYS try to find out the “why” of new permissions. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

You can navigate to the AdroidManifest and blame it where the permission occurs.

<uses-permission-sdk-23 android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION">

Then, you can find the commit. This is from two years ago.

I appreciate the reply. I really do. But all that technical stuff is meaningless to me. Looking at the older version on my phone (4.2) I see that it does indeed request location but it’s turned off. I guess F-Droid is saying that the permission is new for 4.2.2 because I have the permission turned off in the older version on my phone… If I lose no functionality I’ll update and leave location off. Thanks.
