App Availability in Play Store

From what I can see some of the apps available via F-Droid are not also available in the official Play Store.

Is there a reason for this?

This is up to the individual app developers. If they choose to only publish on F-Droid that is up to them. Perhaps they do not want to sign up for a Google developer account? There may be a few reasons for this:

  • Last time I checked it cost $25 or so. Some people may not want to bother paying this.
  • They may not agree to Googles terms of service with regards to uploading apps there.
  • Probably many other reasons.
